Time Machine Gentleman

Think back to the era of thought, reading and productivity, where gentleman would get together to discuss books they are reading, smoke pipes together and ponder life's questions. How far we have come from that wonderful and refreshing memory. Would it not be neat if among friends we encouraged one another to discover new things, form opinions or discussions? My thoughts go back to the gentleman in the opening scene of The Time Machine. A group of entrepreneurs and inventors, but most importantly Gentleman, all together in a room talking about their activity and accomplishments, some for the purpose of boasting but the other because this was expected by the circle of friends. I don't know what it is about me but I have always loved this thirst for knowledge, this setting that allowed for academic growth. Its nice to see floor plans of housing incorporate for a study, a library, or a den in which minds can grow and invent. I desire this time, this period, this mentality to be among the current, may it some day spread and fill our social groups.

I know today I would be relieved if one of my friends came up to me and challenged my thinking and how I spend my time each day. Instead of greeting with "Hello, how are you?" we would progress to "So what are you working on these days?". A question that if you asked today, most if not all, would not have an imediate answer or would respond with "School...Stuff...etc" but what a uninteresting life that is. I submit that stronger frienships would be the product of such an investigative relationship as well as promote production that would impact the World. I Know it is something I desire and I think even Jesus would like to see in his followers to begin this form of accountability. By giving each other insight, and encouragement we can together move towards production for the benefits of relationships, which would help the cause of evangelism. How awesome it would be to have christians who were using their time to think, read, write and progress in order to communicate the passion of Christ. I hope in my life time or even in my group of friends that we could establish this wonderful mindset on knowledge in order to be good stewards of our time and what God has given us.
